South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has traveled to Cairo-Egypt for a one-day State Visit on Sunday 5th November.

According to the president’s press, Kiir will hold talks with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on bilateral issues that are of interest to both South Sudan and Egypt.

It also reported that the visit aims at strengthening relations between Juba and Cairo in various fields, besides discussion on regional and international matters of concern.

The Press Secretary in the Office of the President, Lily Adhieu Martin Manyiel said the two leaders would discuss a range of bilateral issues, including exchanging views on collective regional matters.

President Kiir and the accompanying delegation were seen off at Juba International Airport on Sunday morning by the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny and other senior government officials.

This is Kiir’s second trip to Egypt; one was in July 2023 when he attended the summit of Sudan’s neighbors that sat to figure out ways to resolve the ongoing conflict.
