Rumbek Central County Commissioner Matur Majok Magol explained to Good News Radio that the clashes started Tuesday night when people from Cueibet County killed three women, one girl and one man and wounded a baby during a surprise attack.
He added that in another strike three people were killed and four wounded.
Mr. Majok said the raiders tried to stop a bus but the driver sped away they shot and wounded him.
He said the attackers divided themselves into two parties after the attacks and he was searching for them together with Cueibet County Commissioner.
He added the local chiefs would be suspended.
Mr. Majok said he will not allow insecurity in town ahead of the independence celebrations.
He urged the youths to live in harmony saying the time for fighting finished with the end of the civil war.
Mr. Majok appealed to the youth to leave the cattle camps and return home to start cultivating since the rainy season is about to start.
