Drivers in Juba are complaining over the narrow detours after several bridges were closed for re-construction works.

Malakia-Juba, Munuki, Gudele and Bilpham are all closed due to bridge renovations.

The latter has forced drivers opt for detours which are too narrow to accommodate two cars.

Denis Omondi told SCR News that he spends at least 200 to 300 pounds every day on fuel and servicing his car due to the road conditions.

However, GoSS minister of roads Anthony Lino Makana said that that developing a city is not easy particularly when the city was under siege for so long during the war.

He added that the bridges would be finished in the next six to seven weeks.

Mr. Makana said that Juba has 60 bridges that need reconstruction and only nine have so far been tackled.

What remains unclear is how road users will cope up with the conditions as the government winds up construction works.
