Lobong Cautions Senior Officers against Unnecessary dismissal of Subordinate Staff

The Eastern Equatoria State governor Louis Lobong Lojore cautioned senior Officials against dismissing civil servants working in different ministries in the state without consultation.

This came during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed officials in the Eastern Equatoria State government.

Earlier this week, the president of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit in a presidential decree read on Wednesday dismissed five senior post holders.

President Kiir appointed new officials which includes; Hon. Koteen Thomas Pia as the state minister of Health, Hon. Elia John Ahaji as the minister of information, Hon. Abas Lomua Lorot as the Deputy Chairperson of Anti-Corruption Commission, Hon. Peter Lomong Locebe as a member of the Human Rights Commission and Finally Hon. Timon Loboi Lolory as Ikwoto County Commissioner.

In a statement during the occasion, the State Governor Louis Lobong said most of the ministers and commissioners are accused of dismissing and suspending civil servants without proper procedures.

He added that others are recruiting their family members straight from home into government positions.   

According to the Governor, there are people who worked in those positions for over thirty years saying they have noticed in South Sudan while adding that some people are given positions without training.

“Some of the ministers or commissioners are being accused of dismissing civil
servants without procedures suspending some are accused of recruiting their
family members from home straight forward to position while there are people in
that position having 30 years in that position,” he stated.

The Governor further added that, “There are senior civil servants from grade five onwards, you cannot transfer them without consulting the head of state.”

Meanwhile Dr. Cirichio Louis Oromo who is the state Advisor of the Governor on Human Rights advises the newly appointed post holders not to promise people of something they cannot deliver because people’s expectations will always be high.

He added that all the appointees should always be truthful but should not build bridges without rivers.

For his part, the representative of the newly appointed post holders who is also the state minister of Health Hon. Koteen Thomas Pia urges the people of Eastern Equatoria State to put their hands on delivering services for the benefit of the state.

He added that they are going to work together to deliver services to the people in the state.
