The United Nation Mission in South Sudan official in Eastern Equatoria State is appealing to south Sudanese politicians to causing fear and violence among communities across the country.

Abdul Kamara the UNMISS representative says politicians should be polite in their political arena and practice multi-democracy to benefit the entire community.

Mr. Abdul Kamara says multi-party democracy helps to guide the party on power and provide services to the population on the ground.

“politics should not be the basis of Hatred, and politics having different opinions should not lead us to violence, we should truly guide ourselves against that, rather we try to practice healthy politics that benefits the community, society and our people, because where we have good multi- party democracy is where we have freedom to decide and choose our leader as people and the Government will be able to deliver for us because they know people and other political party will question them on what they are doing and they know if they don’t do it there are alternatives to take over the reign of power, this is why we all have to embrace multi-party democracy.”

Abdul encourages political parties to address the needs of the citizens as they look forward to the general elections in 2024.

Kamara adds that, UNMISS is in full support of the peace process in the Country.

He calls for the inhabitants in Eastern Equatoria state to distance themselves from violence for peace to prevail.

“After the elections you should be the watchdog of the people to continue pointing out on the mistakes of the Government so that they will do their work for the people of south Sudan, UNMISS stands with you in this journey to make sure that we build the resilience that we needed for a prosperous and peaceful country, I will call on the people of Eastern Equatoria to prioritize peace and make sure that no matter differences is what they don’t resort to violence.”
