JUBA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT UNDER EXPANSION

The Government of Southern Sudan has committed to expand Juba International Airport and a world-class terminal building is already under construction.

Talking to SCR News at the construction site, GoSS minister of Transport Anthony Lino Makana said that the airport will look like the Cape Town airport in South Africa.

Mr. Makana added that reconstruction of the airport is done in phases adding and the first phase will take the builders 12 to 14 weeks.

The development for the Juba Airport for both passengers and cargo is a priority for the Government of Southern Sudan ahead of the declaration of its independence.

Passengers will experience a better level of service.

Currently, the airport receives at least eight landings every day, according to the minister.

Mr. Makana said that in about seven weeks planes will be able to land and take off at night too.
