The US hass invested 1.5 million US dollars to finance a series of projects to curb haviolence in the remote area of Pibor of Jonglei state.
Pibor County, bordering with Ethiopia, is one of the most underdeveloped areas of South Sudan and the place of constant conflicts over cattle and grazing areas.Sophie Rutenbar from AECOM International told SCR News over the phone that the projects include the strengthening of the mobility of the county authorities and keeping the youth busy.
Mr. Rutenbar said that the youths were trained in stone crashing, block making and construction building in order to gain skills that give them some money and keep them away from cattle raiding.
She added that the youths collaborated in the rehabilitation of Pibor’s air strip, the County HQ and the guest house.
