South Sudan President Salva Kiir directed the Parliament to Complete Remaining Bills Before going for Recess.
In a meeting with the Speaker of Parliament on Friday, Kiir directed Jemma Nunu Kumba to speed up the completion of the pending bills.
Addressing the media after the meeting, the Minister in the Office of the President said, Kiir emphasized the importance of completing the remaining work on key bills before the parliamentary recess.
The meeting was centered on the bills passed by the National Assembly, including the Elections Bill and Banking Bill.
He stated that President Kiir expressed his desire for the Parliament to prioritize these bills and ensure their timely completion before the recess
President Kiir’s call for the completion of these bills highlights the government’s commitment to implementing the Peace Agreement through the roadmap.
The Speaker of the National Legislative Assembly, Jemma Nunu Kumba said she briefed the President on the activities of Parliament.
The Honorable Speaker also reveals that she informed the President of the Republic that the 2023-2024 fiscal year Budget is in the final phase of debate.
The passing of these bills is crucial for the smooth functioning of the country’s electoral and financial systems.
It is expected that the Parliament will resume its sessions after the recess to continue deliberations on these important matters
