A hospital in Lakes State decided to use the radio to reach out to the masses with information about its services to fight the HIV and Aids pandemic.
Paul Komakech coordinates the Anti-Retroviral Treatment and Voluntary Counselling and Testing Centre at Mapuordit Catholic Hospital. He said that the first radio programme aimed at making the public aware of the centre and the services it offers.Mr. Komakech expressed confidence that the radio programme will enhance their objective of reaching out to the public with information about HIV and Aids.
The coordinator said the radio programmes will encourage people to use the Mapuordit facility.
Mr. Komakech added that his team will handle topics about positive living and the reduction of stigmatization in the community, emphasizing that the ultimate goal of their initiatives is to reduce mortality rate.
The two-hour live radio programme that started on Thursday will be aired every two weeks.
The program is sponsored by Global fund in partnership with World Health Organization through the United Nation Development Program and the Government of South Sudan.
