Torit County Commissioner has called on residents to keep calm and continue with their daily duties after two violent incidents claimed four lives this week.
elix Otuduha Siro explained to the press that the cases were isolated and the security forces were in full control.Mr. Otuduha revealed that the government formed investigation teams to find out the causes of the killings and bring the perpetrators to book.
The commissioner was talking to the press about a grenade blast that killed three people on Sunday and Tuesday’s shooting of a police officer attached to his security.
The two tragic events took place at Torit’s Hai Police residential area.
Mr. Otuduha, who chairs the security committee in Torit County, said the grenade could have been left behind by the Sudan Armed Forces elements that integrated the Joint Integrated Unit (JIU).
He said he suspected that there may be a connection between what he regarded as a drastic security reduction in Torit and the departure of the northern soldiers.
Mr. Otuduha said it should be investigated if some weapons and even elements have been left behind after the departure of the JIU-SAF section and its relation with the current trend of insecurity in the state.
