Bishop of Wau describes the appointment of the Cardinal as a “blessing”

The Catholic Bishop of the Wau Diocese, Matthew Remijio Adam has described the appointment of a new Cardinal as a blessing and recognition of the role the Church plays in South Sudan.

Bishop Remijio congratulates the Cardinal Elect His Grace Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla and appreciated the decision of the Holy Father Pope Francis.

“His appointment is a blessing and recognition from the Holy Father and shows how much he loves the people of South Sudan” Bishop Matthew Remijio mentions.

Bishop Remijio further highlighted that His Grace Stephen Ameyu Martin shows the growth of the Catholic Church in South Sudan.

“This already shows that the Catholic Church in South Sudan is growing really, I do not doubt that the Archbishop is capable of being a close advisor to the Holy Father” Mathew adds.

The Catholic Bishop of Wau Catholic Diocese asks all the faithful to pray for Cardinal Elect as he soon takes up his new duties to serve God’s people.

Pope Francis announced a consistory for the creation of new cardinals from around the world to be held at the Vatican on 30 September 2023.
