Kiir disclosed no extension to the transition period

South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardit has disclosed that there will be no further extension of the transitional period in 2024.

Kiir urges Parties to the agreement to work based on no further extension of the transitional period to pave the way for the election.

The President was addressing thousands of his supporters in Wau during a political rally on Tuesday, 4th July.

“Let us not think of further extension, it will not be extended when it ends in 2024 we have to go for election so that people know themselves,” he adds.

President Kiir promises to work closely with the parties to an agreement on the process to conduct a fair election that will put the country on the path of permanent stability.

This week, SPLM Secretaries in Greater Bahr El Ghazal region and Abyei Administrative Area endorse Salva Kiir Mayardit as the sole candidate and the flag bearer of the party in the forthcoming Election.
