GoSS council of ministers adopted today the locally endemic Fishing Eagle as the main element in the coat of arms for the Republic of South Sudan.
Telecommunications and Postal Services Minister Madut Biar Yel told the press that the Cabinet held an extraordinary meeting today and it proposed the beautiful black and white eagle to the symbol of the new nation.He added that group of artists is improving the artwork and the final South Sudan Seal will be presented to the Council of Ministers for approval on Friday.
Mr. Biar said the Cabinet also made recommendations to improve the design of National Medals.
He added that the medals will distinguish international dignitaries and leading individuals who took part in the struggle of South Sudan since 1955 up to 2011.
The approval of a national seal is delaying the printing of South Sudan passports and identity cards to be in use after independence.
