An activist in Eastern Equatoria State has urged parties to the Revitalized Agreement to complete the process of permanent constitution-making to ensure the country goes for election.

Mister Oryema Emmanuel says the constitution will promote people’s supremacy and federal democratic government to reflect the true character of the nation.

“The parties to the R-ARCSS needed to make sure the process of making a constitution is complete and we needed to have a new constitution for the Republic of South Sudan so that we shall have people supremacy so that we shall have a federal democratic system of governance that reflects the true character of South Sudan.”

Activist Corncered Oryema says the slow implementation of the agreement is making citizens lose hope thus calling on the government and civil society activists to create more awareness among the citizens such that they contribute views to be considered in the constitution-making process.

Oryema said that every citizen has a role to play in the constitution-making process

“I know many people are hopeless with the way the implementation of the agreement is going, so we have to continue raising awareness,”

He says the public should be educated about their roles and responsibilities in the constitution-making process.

“We need to contribute views that will be considered in the process because if we keep quiet and we don’t give our views, it will be difficult in this process of the constitution-making.”

The activist calls on citizens to support parties to the agreement in the implementation process by giving the right information that will push them toward implementation of the agreement

“All these people who are implementing this peace, they are our brothers and sisters and we stay with them, so we can be able to push them to go the right direction of making sure that these are implemented,” the Activist said.

Emmanuel expresses the need to perform community consultations on the key priorities of the constitution-making process for the people to contribute their ideas and tomorrow they will not complain.

“Citizens are to be engaged, they should be actually in the center of the process”

The Activist was speaking on Friday during the “South Sudan we want radio Talk show at Radio Emmanuel in Torit. The programs discussed the parameters of the permanent constitution-making process supported by Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA).
