The technical committee tasked to review the Interim Constitution 2005 finished its work and handed the South Sudan Transitional Constitution 2011 to the GoSS president.
Minister John Luk Jok, the head of the committee, presented this morning three documents to President Salva Kiir Mayardit: the Transitional Constitution, an explanatory note and the marked up version of amended draft Constitution.
He said the South Sudan Transitional Constitution 2011 incorporated all the amendments suggested by the Technical Committee members.
GoSS President Salva Kiir Mayardit congratulated the committee for working quickly under difficult conditions.
He said the Transitional Constitution will be shared with the leaders from all political parties and the Cabinet before it heads to the South Sudan Legislative Assembly for approval.
Mr. Kiir added that every citizen was invited to participate in the process to prepare the permanent Constitution of South Sudan after the independence.
He urged the Southerners to remain united in order to overcome the many problems the new country faces.
