The retired catholic bishop of Torit has urged the leaders of South Sudan to leave power wrangling to after Independence Day.

Bishop Paride Taban told SCR News that politicians positioning for power in the new republic seem like a husband and wife fighting for a child still to be born.

He added that people should choose the leaders based on their good performances.

Bishop Paride said he would like to see Sudan and South Sudan as two sister nations assisting each other without any power struggle.

He urged the leaders of South Sudan to develop the new country instead of taking care of their selfish interests.

Bishop Paride asked leaders to solve their differences through debate and not through violence, using the skills they learned in the school.
