South Sudan Legislative Assembly postponed a discussion on the Independence celebrations budget presented by the government for tomorrow due to lack of a detailed budget.

The Minister in Office of the President presented today to the Assembly the budget of more than 94.7 million Sudanese Pounds the Council of Ministers approved to cover the cost of 14 different activities related with the Independence celebrations.

Deputy speaker Daneil Awet Akot told the MPs today that the House could not discussed the budget because the document does not detail how the money will be used.

He said the budget did not meet the regulations required to be discussed, rejected, amended or adopted by the Assembly.

SPLM-DC MP Onyoti Adigo Nyikwec said it was right that the debate was delayed because the budget should have a guiding bill that details the use of the huge amount of money.

He added that it was incorrect to call it Budget for July 2011 Celebration because the parliament passed already the 2011 Financial Plan which was presented by ministry of finance.

Mr. Adigo said the minister of finance should have included the budget for the independence celebrations as a supplementary budget in South Sudan 2011 financial plan.
