An MP from Unity State in South Sudan Assembly urged its government to stop recruiting by force idle youths into the army.

Unity governor Taban Deng Gai ordered the recruitment of 6,000 new SPLA soldiers from the counties of the state.

Kuong Dak Wei said he talked with Mr. Deng who denied forcing all youths into the SPLA files.

The governor said he was only recruiting jobless young men.

Mr. Dak urged governor Deng to stop recruiting new soldiers by force and allow only volunteers into the SPLA.

He added that if the government wants to recruit people into the army it should be done in a voluntary basis.
