Inter-state Peace Conference calls for disarmament

A peace dialogue between, Warrap, Lakes, and Unity states resolved to launch a civilian disarmament campaign. The inter-state Peace Conference was held in Tonj East County, Warrap State ended.

Warrap state Information Minister, William Wol Mayom Bol says representatives from three communities agreed to the comprehensive disarmament of civilians.

“They recommended a special court to be brought so that cases related to cattle thefts and criminalities are resolved by the special court. They also requested the government to build prison service so that all the culprits and criminals are apprehended in the prison.”

William Wol says the communities called for all culprits to be brought to book and that raided cattle should be returned to the rightful owners.

“All the culprits involved in the conflict of Galwanjang particularly Wuntwic, wun Adel , Ador, and Bach should be brought to book, Number five, all the raided cattle should be collected back to the rightful owners.”

Mr. Mayom says participants suggested the establishment of special courts, building prisons, and deployment of forces in hotspots between the three communities.

Minister added the community of Tonj east urged the government to investigate Commissioner John Deng Kook over cattle compensation which allegedly did not reach the relatives of the deceased.

He said adds that commissioner Deng Kook should also clarify the re-appearance of a PKM gun which was reported disarmed from the civilians but was found in the recent pan yang beach camp attacks.

The Minister made the statement to Don Bosco radio through a phone call on Monday in Tonj South County of Warrap State.
