The Catholic Bishop of El Obeid urged the people of Nuba Mountains to remain united ahead of the South Kordofan State elections scheduled for May 2.

Bishop Macram Max Gassis told the people of Nuba Mountains through SCR News to remain united in a common project and in their identity avoiding assimilation.

Bishop Macram said the Nuba people are an example of identity for the whole of South Sudan, shunning tribalism.

He added that this is the way to build a nation going beyond personal gain and interests.

Bishop Macram urged officials to be transparent and honest with money given for the building of the country.

He added that the situation in South Kordofan is fluid ahead of the elections and Khartoum should accept the results from voters registration and respect the vote of the people.
