The Arch-Bishop of Juba Stephen Ameyu Martin has ordained a seminarian in to the order of a Deacon at Our Lady of Sorrow parish in the Catholic Diocese of Torit in Kapoeta South County on Sunday.

The newly ordained Deacon, Andrew Agobia will serve Christians of the parish and the Diocese.

Deacon Andrew Agobia joined the minor seminary in 2005-2008 at Kochoa in Uganda and the major seminary in 2011-2012 at shambat Khartoum.

He studies philosophy in 2014-2017 and theology in 2017-2021 at St. Paul Major Seminary in Juba South Sudan.

Speaking during the ordination His Grace Ameyu called for cooperation amongst Christians.

The Metropolitan Arch-Bishop Stephen Ameyu Mulla says the Deacon joins the ministry of Christ to serve every believer not a tribe or individuals.

He says if there is poor coordination between the clergy and the faithful it will lead to failures in most activities of the parish or the Diocese.

My dear brothers and sisters, our Deacon will now be serving all of us, it is through your encouragement to him in order to serve the people of God not tribe or individuals or friends.”

“Salvation will only be possible for all of us whether we are rich or poor, all of us must cooperate to work together it is indeed through our cooperation together you can save us and we can save you through the administration,” His Grace said.

The Metropolitan Arch-Bishop has encouraged the faithful and the clergy to fight against tribalism in South Sudan and promote the spirit of Nationalism at the state and National level and at any denomination in the Country.

He said tribalism cannot help the church and the Nation develop and it leads to some Christians doubting the sacrament.

“Let us help our priests and our faithful in order for us to move to God, we have only one thing to fight we are still a new nation we have not have fill our nationalism, our nationalism at the state, national and at the church level, all of us are still segregation on tribal basis,” he said

Meanwhile the Governor of Eastern Equatoria State Louis Lobong Lojore has encouraged youth in Greater Kapoeta to join the seminary and convent to become servants of God.

He says such training can pave the way for the creation of a Diocese in Kapoeta. Hon. Louis Lobong claimed that the majority in Greater Kapoeta are Catholic.

“During our time there were girls who went for convent and one only become sister, now to you at least there should be one sister from each age group, but now it is not there and you people are the majority and whole greater Kapoeta communities,” Lobong stated.

Over 2,200 candidates have on Saturday received sacrament of confirmation at Our Lady of sorrow Parish in the Eastern Denary of the Catholic Diocese of Torit to become new Christians to serve God.

Lady of sorrow parish last ordination of a Deacon and priest was in 2014
