A committee mandated by the Government of South Sudan to investigate the root causes of clashes between soldiers and various local communities is yet to start investigating.

The team is to probe the brutal killings of civilians in Cueibet, Rumbek East and Yirol West Counties which took place early last year.

The committee is scheduled to start investigating Cueibet confrontation where a dozen of civilians were killed and several others injured.

James Alalah, who heads the committee, told Good News Radio that his team is entrusted with the responsibility to find out the root causes for the clashes starting this April.

He added that the committee will report the facts to GoSS President as soon as it concludes its findings and Salva Kiir Mayardit will decide what course of action to take.

Mr. Alalah assured the local community that his team will carry out its work with neutrality, adding that the committee will require the cooperation of the local community in order to dig out the truth.

He stressed that the committee is working hard to produce real information about the cause of three deadly clashes between SPLA soldiers and civilians.

Mr. Alalah made these statements after a brief meeting with Lakes State Governor, Chol Tong Mayay, on the way forward to start the probe ordered by Mr. Kiir.
