Lam Akol handed in yesterday his documentation in order to run for the presidency of Southern Sudan against SPLM’s candidate Salva Kiir Mayardit.

Anania Modi Lolik, Chief Returning Officer with the Southern Sudan High Committee, told SCR News that the candidacy of the SPLM-DC leader was presented to the Committee yesterday evening.

Mr. Loli however declined to specify if Lam Akol brought the documents himself or if the process was presented by the SPLM-DC officials.

Mr. Akol left the SPLM to found his own party and so far is the only opponent of Mr. Kiir for the GoSS presidency.

Meanwhile, today the NCP candidate for governor of Central Equatoria, James Loro Cirisio, presented his process to Central Equatoria High Elections Committee.
