The Governor of Eastern Equatoria state yesterday declared that he will run for the seat as an independent in the April elections after the SPLM Political Bureau chose a local party leader to run on its ticket.

Governor Aloisio Emor Ojetuk said that his decision came after thorough consultations with the Government of Southern Sudan and the SPLM leadership and pressure from his supporters.

Mr. Ojetuk accused the election colleges for failing to choose popular representatives for the SPLM and instead they satisfied their needs pursuing their own internal agendas.

Mr. Ojetuk, who lost the nomination on the SPLM ticket to Lous Lobong, reaffirmed his commitment to the party saying that the SPLM Political Bureau had given permission to its members to run as independents if they so wish.

He added that it will be the task of the people to choose the best leader during April Elections.
