Eastern Equatoria state commemorated the forty third anniversary of Fr. Saturnino Ohure’s killing at his mausoleum in Torit town.

Catholic Bishop of Torit Johnson Akio Mutek presided the Holy mass that was attended by Government officials and many faithful, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Bishop Akio expressed his gratitude to those who turned up for the occasion.

He urged the party leaders to come for prayers at the mausoleum for spiritual gain and to follow the footsteps of the Fr. Saturnino.

The Bishop added that the commemoration of the anniversary was not only for the Catholic Church but for all, since the patriotic leader Fr. Saturnino dedicated his life to all Southern Sudanese.

Bishop Akio declared Monday, Wednesday and Saturday prayer days at Fr. Saturnino’s mausoleum.

Fr. Saturnino was killed by a Ugandan soldier on January 22, 1967, near Kitgum.
