The Catholic Diocese of Malakal has concluded today its three-day assembly to set down its pastoral priorities for 2010 amid the absence of women at the forum.

About 60 people, including clergy, laymen from the parish councils, catechists, religious women and men took part in the assembly that was chaired by the apostolic administrator, Mons. Roko Taban, SCR News correspondent reported.

The participants revised the pastoral life of the diocese in order to lay down its priorities for 2010.

Liturgy, formation of catechists and youth, family apostolate and justice and peace issues are the main fields of action for the current pastoral year.

Mons. Roko told the participants that they are the main responsible for the implementation of the priorities chosen by the assembly.

He added that the diocese is in a conflict area and hopes for peace and stability during this year.

The assembly attendants were all men except for eight religious sisters. No lay woman was present at the event.
