LADU GORE SIGNS IN AS INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE FOR CENTRAL EQUATORIA GOVERNOR

GoSS presidential adviser on diplomatic affairs has broken ranks with the SPLM and decided to run for the governorship of Central Equatoria state as an independent candidate.Alfred Ladu Gore told the press this morning that he is standing as an independent candidate in answer to the demand of Central Equatorians who are not happy with the SPLM endorsement of Clement Wani Konga for the post.

Mr. Gore said that to stand as an independent candidate does not mean opposition to the SPLM but simply a positive answer to the popular demand of the people of Central Equatoria state.

Mr. Gore added that the decision taken by the SPLM Political Bureau did not satisfy the aspirations of the citizens of the state who call for fundamental change in Central Equatoria.

Mr. Gore handed in his candidacy to the Southern Sudan High Elections Committee with the necessary backing signatures to be an independent candidate for the governorship of Central Equatoria state.

Two other aspirants who wanted to run in the SPLM ticket, Juba Commissioner Dr. Pius Subek and Robert Ladu, accompanied him to the SPLM Secretariat and expressed their support for Mr. Gore.

Mr. Gore commands support from civil society and church groups.
