The SPLM secretary-general said the process to select the party’s 25 candidates to run for the post of governor in all Sdan’s states was very competitive with big names being left out during the secret ballot election.

Pagan Amum added that the SPLM has many members ready to provide leadership.

Mr. Amum said that some political bureau members who presented their candidacy for the office of governor lost the party’s nomination.

He added that the candidates who lost their bid for nomination will serve the SPLM in new assignments.

Mr. Ammum disclosed that Clement Wani Konga won the nomination for Central Equatoria with a very slim two-vote margin.

The SPLM Political Bureau included three women in its 25-member list for the post of governor in Western Equatoria, Warrap and Gadharef states.
