A delegation from the department of foreign Affairs in Canada, the Canadian Development Agency CIDA plus the Canadian Embassy in Khartoum visited the Goss minister of commerce to re-confirm their commitment in supporting the forthcoming elections and the referendum as well.
Addressing journalists today at the ministry premises, Lurrete Charette, Charge d’Affaires said his team is in Southern Sudan to re-enforce their commitment to help in the elections and ensure that the referendum is conducted in a fair way.
He added that the Canadian Government has already offered money for public education and support to transport Southern Sudanese.
Minister Benjamin Marial appreciated the cooperation and affirmed that it also aims at promoting the private sector development, particularly in the area of agriculture.
Mr. Lurrete acknowledged that the Canadian government has a strong commitment to continue its cooperation over the next few years.
He added that one hundred million US dollars has already been budgeted for Southern Sudan.
