The United States is warning terrotists may target flights between Southern Sudan and Uganda ahead of Sudan’s April elections.

The US State Department said yesterday it has information that regional extremists may be targeting flights between Juba and Kampala, the Associated Press reported.

A State Department statement warned travelers between Juba and Kampala to be vigilant.

The alert comes amid nervousness about violence as Sudan prepares for the 2011 referendum on self-determination for the South.

The United States has long warned its citizens against traveling to Sudan.
