STATES RESIST IMPLEMENTATING SOUTHERN SUDAN EDUCATION CURRICULUM

Some states in southern Sudan are not implementing the new curriculum elaborated by the education authorities for southern Sudan and students will suffer the consequences.

Omot Okwonch Olot is Director of Curriculum in GoSS Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. He told journalists today that some states did not implement the new Southern Sudan educational curriculum.

Mr. Okwonch said many teachers of Arabic background have not been trained to teach the new curriculum of English pattern.

He warned that students will face difficulties during their primary and secondary leaving examinations in the states where the new curriculum is not being implemented.

Mr. Okwonch announced that secondary school in Southern Sudan will have four years instead of three.

He added that southern Sudan will have unified primary and secondary school examinations.

Until now P8 examinations were prepared locally.
