South Sudan students met today in Nyokuron Cultural Center, Juba, to celebrate the independence of the Sudan and the Comprehensive Peace Agreement three days ahead of its anniversary.
Sudan achieved its independence from the British-Egyptian Consortium on January 1, 1956.

SPLM Secretary General for Students Affairs in the Youth League, Kol Altia, explained to SCR News that students were celebrating Sudan’s independence and peace because they are the future and the tools for change.

Mr. Altia added that students were rallying behind GoSS president Salva Kiir Mayardit’s call for peace for all the peoples of the Sudan.

Today’s celebrations were organized by the General Sudanese Students Union in collaboration with the Curriculum Department in GoSS Ministry of Education.
