GoSS president Salva Kiir Mayardit said that there is going to be food insecurity in 2010 and government and citizens need to work together to avoid a looming disaster, Gurtong website reported.
Mr. Kiir added that the situation is not that much serious yet but people must have to wake up now to take measures to avert disaster.
He said that many people died from hunger during the civil war due to neglect.
Mr. Kiir urged the international community to help Southern Sudan combat food insecurity and other disasters that threaten the region.
