NCP NOT TO FIELD CANDIDATE TO GOSS PRESIDENCY

The NCP will not field a candidate to the presidency of the Government of Southern Sudan and it is negotiating with the SPLM which governors to contest for and with all southern parties the 25 percent quota of women MPs.Agnes Poni Lukudu is the chairperson of the NCP Southern Sector and GoSS minister for Wildlife Conservation and Tourism. She told SCR News that the party will contest only for the presidency of the Sudan and for the governorship in some states.

Ms. Poni added that those contesting for a post in the NCP ticket must be popular at local level.

She explained that candidacies are chosen taking into account also their commitment to the party and their background education.

Mr. Poni said the NCP is proposing to distribute one women seat per party and dispute the remaining places together.

She added the NCP has already started voter education campaign to inform the public about the voting process and the elections in general.
