TWO CANDIDATES CONTEST FOR EASTERN EQUATORIA GOVERNORSHIP IN SPLM TICKET

Two members of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Eastern Equatoria State have shown interest to run for governorship in the party’s ticket.SPLM State Assistant Secretary for Administration and Finance, Aliardo Otuyek Oyata, told Radio Emmanuel that Aloisio Emor Ojetuk and Louis Lobong want to register as candidates for the governor’s seat.

Aloisio Emor Ojetuk is Eastern Equatoria incumbent Governor while Louis Lobong is the SPLM state chairman.

Mr. Otuyek added that over 190 SPLM members have expressed interest to vie for various political positions in the upcoming April elections due in April.

He explained that about 20 members are to contest for South Sudan Legislative Assembly and State Legislative Assembly while others compete for different elective positions in the state.

Mr. Okanyi emphasized the SPLM will not allow any party members to contest a post as an independent candidate.

He added that the party will not allow two members to contest for the same political position in the same electoral constituency.
