The Christmas Cup organized by Nimule Football Association ended prematurely without a winner during the final over scenes of violence involving players and spectators.

The league started smoothly with ten teams playing the qualifying games in two groups, Radio Emmanuel reported.

However, it turned sour on Christmas Eve during the final between Nile Eagles FC and Beth Israel FC.

After twenty minutes into the game, Nile Eagle FC midfielder Abui misbehaved again and got a second yellow card and the subsequent red one and was sent off.

Nile Eagle team Captain, Don Bosco, held the hand of the referee while he was showing the red card and pushed it down, causing a fight in the field with both players and spectators turning rowdy.

The referee marched out of the pitch leaving the players stranded, and ending the Christmas Cup prematurely without a winning team.

Nimule Football Association, the body that organized the league and governs football sports activities in the area, says it has taken up the matter for investigation.
