The Legislative Assembly of Eastern Equatoria State has adjourned the eight session before passing the state budget and reports of the ministries, which are the most contentious issues at the moment.
The clerk to the Assembly, Hon. Adelio Kau Kawa, explained to Radio Emmanuel why the Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Sabina Dario Lokolong, last Sauturday adjourned the session till 5th January next year.
The Parliament will tackle the issue of the budget and the ministry reports early next year, before it dissolves for elections.
According to Hon. Adelio Kau Kawa, the State Assembly of Eastern Equatoria, which was instituted in 2005, will be remembered for its contribution towards establishing of peace and containing hunger threats in the state.
The present Legislative Assembly Eastern Equatoria is constituted by appointed Members of Parliament, and like in other states of Sudan will dissolve in January to pave way to the political elections of April 2010. The elections will form the first democratically elected State Assemblies in Sudan, after the two decades liberation war in the country.
