The Sudanese Women Network was founded after a group of Sudanese women living in Juba met to discuss their role in the ongoing security problems in Southern Sudan.
The network was created to empower the rural women to have a meaningfully influence in their communities by participating in dialogues and peace initiatives.
The Sudanese Women Network says in a press release that on December 8 it sent a 15-people strong delegation to Nyirol Count, Jonglei state, in a Peace Rally mission to discourage tribal conflicts and cattle rustling.
The mission included a GoSS representative, three musicians and two journalists.
During the three-day visit, the team organized and held numerous Peace Rallies both at Pieri and Waat payams, in Great Akobo.
The two communities said they face many big problems like lack of water, road and telephone networks, sufficient educational facilities, health care system, and threat from armed gun men.
The Sudanese Women Network says similar peace rallies are to be organized in other Greater Upper Nile areas.
