The Students Union of the University of Juba and GoSS ministry of Education are to reach an agreement on Monday over unpaid bursaries that caused a riot yesterday at the university campus.

Students Union at Juba University Information Secretary, Lodu Philip Jembeke, told SCR News that unpaid bursaries were the cause for yesterday’s riot.

Mr. Lodu added that GoSS ministry of Education had been deceiving the Students Union over nine months of unpaid bursaries.

Today an urgent meeting was held among the students, the University principal and the undersecretary from the ministry of Education GOSS to solve the dispute.

Mr. Lodu said that the ministry is ready to pay the students’ transport allowance plus three months’ bursaries.

He added that the students objected preferring to get the full nine months bursaries payment instead of transport money and three months bursaries.

The students of Juba University went on riot yesterday over their unpaid bursaries.

However, anti-riot police sealed the campus, preventing students to spill to the streets of Juba.
