Challenges from logistics in Eastern Equatoria State have delayed collection of results for the recent polio campaign.

Dr. Gordiano Amini, Eastern Equatoria state manager for Expanded Programme for Immunization, told Radio Emmanuel that his office has only received data from Torit county while lack of transport has hindererd other counties to deliver their reports to the state head office.

Dr. Amini said that about 34,543 children under five were immunized in Torit County during the last anti-polio campaign.

Another immunization campaign for acceleration in five antigens against tuberculosis, measles, tetanus, and whooping cough started on Tuesday and runs until Sunday, targeting under one-year-old children.

Dr. Amini said the immunization is a routine exercise done after every forty days until the children complete three doses as required.

The immunization is covering seven counties in the state, including Kapoeta South, Kapoeta East, Kapoeta North, Budi, Ikotos County, Lopa/Lafon and Torit.
