The process of reconciliation and peace building in South Sudan has suffered setbacks as the region heads to full independence on July 9.

Valintno Achak Deng, one of the Lost Boys, told SCR News that the process of reconciliation was going very slow.

He said sometimes there were major progresses toward the initiatives but also there were pull backs from people who were acting on their own agenda.

Mr. Achak added that the South has not managed to bring absolute peace in many parts of the country as there are still hundreds of lives been lost.

He said this is the time that the South should experience healing and compose songs of victory after a vote for independence.
