South Sudanese people and the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare will on Tuesday in Juba join the world in celebrating International Women’s Day under the theme: “Gender equality for future sustainability”.
The event at Dr. John Garang Mausoleum is a special day for all females in the country and is an appreciation to contributions of women in South Sudan.
International Women’s Day commemoration is also to recognize the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
Variety of activities will take place as a way of bringing women together to a common goal, equality for all.
Undersecretary in the Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, Esther Ikere Eluzai calls upon women to take action in gender equality in South Sudan for their achievements to be remembered worldwide.
She describes the day as one of the most significant events for the year and that the theme is to promote and celebrate women together with girl in their achievements and reliance. The celebration is expected to attract ministers; gender focal persons from the government institutions, UN agencies, women groups and other related organizations.
