A catholic priest in the Diocese of Torit is calling on the young people to take education as a priority in their lives, Fr. John Opii Severino tells the congregation on Sunday at St. Peter and Paul cathedral Parish in Torit.
Fr. Opii says youth are still behind in education and he urges them to struggle hard and do professional studies that can open their lives in future.
Radio Emmanuel quoted him saying “If South Sudaneses do not prioritize education as their future they will not compete with any other country in the near future”.
//My message to all of you particularly the young ones ,my dear brothers I have seen that, we are far, far behind, I want to tell you if we don’t pull up our socks and go to school and do professional studies we will not be able to compete in East Africa leave alone here is South Sudan, because we are moving toward professionalism, we are still facing difficulties in language and unprofessionalism, we will not we can accuse everybody when we are far behind, my message is please even if you are marriage go to school, your minimum degree should be a bachelor degree in specific thing and if much you must have a master degree people are moving forward without this in the coming future it will be very difficult my brothers and sisters//
He therefore calls on the parents and guardians to support the education of their children so that in the future they will uplift them from the continuous suffering.
The catholic priest says if all people are educated and able to compete professionally there will be less suffering and difficulty in the communities.
//My humble encouragement to our parent, our guardian and particularly to you who can take responsibility, take your education in your hand, take your education as priority, take education as your future the future of this country leave this rivaling this village rivalry, traditional rivalry this enmity, if we all go to school ,if everybody is able to do and aim what he is, there will be less rivalry ,if everybody is educated and able to compete professionally there will be less rivalry and you go forward, so my dear brothers may God bless you, may God support you and may God encourage you to take the little education opportunity you have very seriously and accomplish it//
