Two people commit suicide in Patir and Makembele, police reports

Two people committed suicide on Tuesday in Makembele and Patir Residential Areas of Rumbek East County, Lakes State Police Spokesperson Major Elijah Mabor Makuach says.

He explains that a young boy of 20 years, and 15-year-old girl hanged themselves to death.

Major Elijah Mabor said a 15-year-old girl hanged herself Tuesday between Patir and Cuie-Chok area.

Police said “the girl had a quarrelled with her brother because she went for a party without permission from any of the family members and came back home late in the middle of the night, when asked where she had been, the whole night she went and killed herself by hanging her neck when people are still asleep and she was later found dead in the morning”.

Makuach also reported that another man of 20 years committed suicide the same day and was found hanging dead in the bush between Makembele and Mabor Koch in the afternoon on the same day.

He said the man was last seen two days before his corpse was found and no one knows exactly what prompted him to commit suicide.

Makuac said the police investigated the family members in order to find the reason why he killed himself, but they responded the late visited most of his relatives before he disappeared.

Makuac urged the public to always be good to people and counsel their family members during difficult situations in order to limit the rate of people committing suicide.

He also urges the entire community of lakes state to work hand in hand in order to find out the reasons why most young people are committing suicide.

Last month two people committed suicide in Rumbek East County alone. Seven people committed suicide in Wulu County in 2021
