UN Women holds validation course on gender and transitional justice

UN Women in South Sudan on Tuesday held a validation workshop on gender and transitional justice to review last year stakeholders’ reports in Juba, Central Equatoria State.

The report being legalizing is the result of hard work and efforts of people who believe in gender equality and empowerment of women, Dr. Paulina Chiwangu UN Women Deputy Country Representative explains during the opening session.

“This report which we are here to validate today is a result of hard work and efforts of so many committed people from South Sudan, people who believe in gender equality and the empowerment of women. I also want to acknowledge our consultants who also helped us in developing this report”, she notes.

Dr Chiwangu states that it is very important to include comprehensive gender sensitive approaches to transitional justice in South Sudan.

IGAD Special Envoy Senior Gender Advisor for South Sudan, Rabab Baldo says the workshop is to assist technical committees under the Ministry of Justice to integrate gender issues in the transitional justice.

He promises to work together with the women of South Sudan to see that gender equality prevail in the country.
