Pope Francis has officially appointed Fr. Alex Lodiong Sakor new Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Yei to succeed Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe.
Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe during the announcement at Christ the King Cathedral on Friday says the Holy Father accepted his resignation presented three years and appointed Fr Alex Lodiong to lead faithful of Yei.
Bishop Lodu says he will be serving in the diocese until the ordination of the new Monsignor Lodiong Sakor.
He says according to the Canon law of the Catholic Church, it will take three months for the new Bishop to be ordained.
Before his appointment, Fr Lodiong was serving as a spiritual formator, Lecturer and Treasure at St Paul’s National Major Seminary in Juba.
Fr Alex Lodiong Sakor was born on January 26th, 1971 in Wudu and joined St Mary Minor Seminary in Juba between 1989 and 1993.
He attended the St Paul’s National Major Seminary for Orientation Course, Philosophy and Theology in Khartoum, Sudan.
