The community members of Ayii-Kit Boma of Iwire Payam in Magwi County has closed the office of the Boma chief over accusation of not paying attention to community issues as they call for his step.

The accused is Marino Olal whose office was closed early this week with no one put as acting chief, Radio Emmanuel reported.

Youth representative of the area, Patrick Ociti Paul, says this particular chief has never called for any community meeting since his election in 2020.

According to him, the Boma chief is working without any committee to help in his office, but entirely is doing his own things.

He further explains that chief Olal does not want to form any committee claiming he is knowledgeable and can do any office activity.

“The community sat down and understood this chief cannot take them forward so they decided to close his office. This chief was elected in 2020 since then; we have finished the whole of 2021. He never called for even a general meeting and no court case has been settled by him, but there are so many cases in the community. Whenever brought to him he doesn’t do anything on it. The chief has no committee, he does say he is educated and there is no need for someone to help him to write, so we the youth are not educated we don’t have any knowledge and there is no youth to call him for a meeting with the level he is in, but he should know the paper he has is not the one that put him in the position, but community elected him”, Ociti explains.

The overthrown Boma chief Marino Olal blamed the youth for encroaching on matters that should not be handled by them but in state at the level of the chief.

He says all these acts coming are due to ignorance by the youth on what they should handle at their level.

According to him, the Payam and county authorities selected a committee and they will go and verify the youth concerns early next week.

“Who are you? I have my class in the judiciary. My superiors are up there and you cannot even cross my line, but I am seeing you encroaching on other issues and even handling court cases. I look at you being ignorant otherwise these are not your responsibilities and I do forgive you. They do not understand until they closed my office then the following day I came to Magwi via the Payam administrator, we came and met the executive director then from there he took us to the commissioner we told him the same thing then they resolved that there is need for the Payam Administrator of Iwire and Iwire Head chief with the youth leader of Magwi County possibly also the chairperson for Panyikwara community has to go at the ground”, the chief responds.
