Commissioner urges holdout groups to adhere to ceasefire and amnesty

Commissioner of Yei River County in Central Equatoria State Aggrey Cyrus Kanyikwa is urging those who took up arms against the government to adhere to cessation of hostilities and the amnesty granted by President Salva Kiir.

He called for an end to fighting because the war is causing harm to Yei, Central Equatoria State and South Sudan in general, Radio Easter reported.

“I still call our brothers in the bush, who have taken up arms to peruse their own cost that, that cost is causing us harm, it’s not benefiting. I’m looking for police, where are we going to get them, let us come together and join hands..”

The Local Government leader appeals to citizens not to engage in anti-peace activities with greater Yei region stressing that the war will bear no fruits but destruction.

He further called for forgiveness by those aggrieved by the rebel activities.
