Seventy-three candidates missed internal mock exams at Dr. John Garang Memorial Secondary School in Torit Eastern Equatoria State, according to Gideon Cholong Atabba, head teacher.
He says those students who missed out the exams are to pay two thousand South Sudanese Pounds, so that their exams papers can be printed to allow them sit, Radio Emmanuel reported.
Cholong says those who missed the exams were informed to report before 3rd January 2022, but claimed that they were away.
“The total of our candidates, they are about one hundred and sixty six, by gender females are seventy and males are ninety six, and for those who attended the mock examinations they are about ninety-three and the good number they don’t attend about seventy-three, some of them called me, they went for Christmas holiday and they delayed because of transportation, but we have asked them even not to go for that one because our exams start right on the third, The missing candidates, each student is going to pay two thousand South Sudanese Pounds so that we also give him or her those papers and we are going to solve all those things together in the board with them after marking”, he explains.
The head teacher says the internal mock was to assess the performance of the students and for teachers to assess themselves.
“You know in mock examinations, you need to assess your student and even you assess yourself as a teacher, so it is very important to give them mock so that you know your position whether they are doing well or not and even in another thing you know when you are giving some holidays like the one of the Christmas and end of the year, student is going to stay more fifteen days”, he notes.
Previously Torit County used to have joint mock exams; however the head teacher says it has taken years without schools sitting for joint mock exams.
