The first court hearing of the catholic sister Veronika Teresa Rackova who was shot by SPLA now SSPDF in Yei on 2016 started on Monday at the High Court of South Sudan in Juba.
Former Governor of the defunct Yei River State, David Lokonga Moses and SSPDF army official, Brigadier General Malong Agat appeared before the high court to explain the where about of the culprits who committed the atrocity in Yei.
Brigadier General Agat says five suspects were arrested, three of whom are SSPDF soldiers and two others are from the national security and counter intelligent.
He says one of the three suspects died in Lasu a year after the incident and the three are in the run.
“Akol Deng Akol fled Yei to Juba and we arrested and sent him back to Yei, from there, he went to Lasu where he was pronounced dead”, Brigadier General Agat narrates during the court hearing.
The high court ordered the army general to avail the death certificate of late Akol Deng and bring to before court, the four suspects on January 26.
Judge Sumeiya Salah presided over the court hearing in Juba on Monday.
